 Venetian Plaster Minimize

Thanks for checking out our new gallery of in-house handcrafted Venetian Plaster style finishes. We now have an inventory of portable sample boards, some rendered in photos on this page, that we would be happy to bring to your home to demonstrate their depth, feel and light sensitivity.

For people who appreciate walls with more visual interest than conventional paint on drywall offers, this is a great option. Applied by trowel, these finishes are intended to reproduce the centuries-old look and feel of Italian marble covered walls. The look is richly layered and textured, while the feel can be either polished or lightly coarse and pitted. It is possible to apply these finishes on new drywall or existing painted walls to introduce a distinctive design element in any space - foyer, library, office, bathroom, or even just a well-placed accent wall.

Please contact us for an appointment to view this collection.  View our recent venetian plaster project by clicking here.

 Meet the Artist Minimize

Nate Moody has been with Topcoat since 2007. Nate graduated from the Art Institute of Boston in '99 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. There, he studied studio art, including Drawing, Painting, Sculpture, Printmaking, Photography and Animation. Following his graduation, Nate became an Agriculture Extension Officer for Peace Corp Tanzania from 2000-03, where he lived in a remote village working with farmers on development projects. On returning to the US, Nate went to work for Catchlight Painting in Boston as an interior painter, where he worked on high end residential projects with a particular emphasis on historic restoration work. During his tenure with Catchlight, Nate achieved crew foreman status and also received formal training in faux finishing techniques.

Nate moved to Vermont and joined Topcoat in October of '07, and promptly took over our fledgling decorative finishing service. He has compiled a collection of portable venetian plaster sample boards, which we can bring into your home so that you can experience the look, feel and light sensitivity of these finishes. Nate produced many different types of faux and decorative finishes in Chittenden County in '08, and is able to create any type of artistic element that you would like to live with in your home. He is a favorite with our customers because of his tremendous talents, good nature, exceptionally clean work habits, and his preference for listening to National Public Radio while working. Please contact us to discuss how Nate and Topcoat can bring your vision to life.
